Have you made a blog theme? What’s the ROI?
I found making wordpress theme as a free one way link building idea in many online marketing blog. But before that think of What’s the ROI of making a blog theme?
I was wondering why people make wordpress themes and are running for it crazily. The logic may be simple. The popularity of making website gradually falling with the advent of blogging cms provided by wordpress. Now a days blogger.com has also started working on their blog interface. Less people are internet/tech savvy, moreover people have little time to devote on managing different things at once. So if you want to target a non-techy, like a doctor who wants to share his knowledge and experiences and express his ideas, he’d definitely go for either blogger or wordpress or any other blog providers. I’m not going to promote anyone.
In continuation with 8 elements of a good blog theme or template, following points may be worth-mentioning for you to decide before making a blog theme:
(1) Target niche bloggers/subjects
You are going to get a link/reference (something like design by …. or blah..blah.. ) if someone downloads your theme and launched in their blogs. So always make sure to find a specific or highly searched keywords subject to target niche bloggers. Visit popular themes/most downloads sections of blog themes providers and try to study the theme features.
(2) A stat can be beneficial
A simple stat would be a great thing to study before deciding for a blog theme. Refer to something like this if available. They have categorized their theme database in terms of colors, layouts, and theme subject. I’d suggest you to go for less popular colors, and theme subjects to avoid too much competition initially.
(3) Don’t try to do anything for making it simply unique
As I said, if you want to target non-techy guys, make sure you keep it simple enough to understand that don’t make them think twice.
(4) Eye catchy look and presentation
Give your theme a great look with high resolution meaningful images that can hunt the eyes of bloggers. Almost over 80% people are going after look these days.
(5) Think of visitors’ usability
Make sure your theme is compatible with IE, Firefox and Safari browsers. A simple translation of your theme in world’s popular languages other than English would be a great idea to acquire geographical benefits for your theme. If you are going for wordpress themes, make themes that is compatible with the latest wordpress release.
What’s your ROI on blog theme?
Downloads: 10,000 and 8000 back links in yahoo
That’s your ROI. What else? Yeah, something more.
Put two sponsor links for your theme will earn you some dollars for devoting your valuable time and exercising your brain. How to sponsor your theme?

Good Post!!!
I agree with all the points mentioned above but Don’t try to do anything for making it simply unique
Why not…try and make my product unique
Great post!
simply an innovative way of marketing
Great tips. All the tips are interesting and quite effective. I also emphasize on looks. Because looks matters most. If the presentation and looks are ok then the work is half done. Then do the rest of the things. A blog is great source of income also. You can see http://www.techcrunch.com is earning huge money. Though the site is pr7 still I will say u also can earn lots of money if you have pr4 or pr5 blogs.
Best of luck for all the bloggers. May God bless you all.
Bye for now.
Good post. You will definitely get lots of one way link from it. I want to see more blog themes here. Keep up the great work. You will get good value of your hard work.
>> Why not…try and make my product unique
Thanks for the point you raised, Anirudh. Now question arises unique in what sense. Uniqueness is good as to the extent people understand it. It’s very tough to define and somewhat relative of how people will take that. If people fail to understand your concept, all your efforts go in vain.
I guess that’s what innovation is all about…..coming out with something that is unique and not been tried before….
>> If people fail to understand your concept, all your efforts go in vain.
And what if people understand it?
This chance has to be taken when you come up with some thing innovative
>> And what if people understand it?

It’s a rubbish argument my friend. Innovations are good and I always support it but my point is it has to be logical so people can understand. I said this because when you are going to launch a new theme, lot of mind, culture, money with physical efforts are involved in it together with the time. Don’t try to do anything different just for the sake of innovation that costs your effort to survive in this competitive world. Hope you understand it.
I’ve seen some people with the concept of innovation only just ended up making a complete mess of everything.
Thanks everyone for all the good wishes and feedback.
Keep visiting it regularly and I appreciate your valuable feedbacks.
One of my favorite link building and affiliate marketing strategies exposed…
Haha, good post though. The return on investment is awesome is you work it right. Just think about the thousands and thousands of possiblities in the footer
